Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Tina Knowles are investing in the Houston community with the opening of a housing development designed to help people experiencing chronic homelessness find stability and support.
The Knowles-Rowland House officially opened in Houston through a partnership with Bread of Life, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides services to people in need. The project transforms the former Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth into permanent housing, giving the building a new purpose in addressing homelessness.

The center was originally established with support from Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland during their Destiny’s Child years in 1999. More than two decades later, the space is being used to address another pressing need in the community where the singers grew up.
Although plans for the housing project began in 2023, the transformation was publicly announced in March 2026. The development represents an $8.4 million investment in efforts to provide long-term housing for people who have experienced homelessness.
Beyoncé, Rowland and Knowles attended the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, alongside Beyoncé’s daughters, Blue Ivy Carter and Rumi Carter.

During the ceremony, Beyoncé reflected on her connection to Houston and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the community that helped shape her. She also thanked the church where she was baptized for making it possible to reinvest in the area that provided an important foundation in her life.
The Knowles-Rowland House includes 31 residential units, providing housing for 31 households. However, the project is designed to offer more than a place to live. Through Bread of Life’s partnership with Temenos Community Development Corporation, residents will also have access to counseling, treatment and training opportunities.
Bread of Life is a nonprofit affiliate of St. John’s Downtown Church that works to support people facing difficult circumstances, including homelessness. Its connection to Temenos helps link residents with additional services intended to support their progress toward greater stability.
By combining permanent housing with access to supportive resources, the development aims to help residents address challenges that can make it difficult to maintain long-term housing.

For Beyoncé, Rowland and Knowles, the opening continues a relationship with their hometown that began years ago. Their latest investment gives new purpose to a space they helped establish and creates an opportunity for more Houston residents to access housing and support services.
