2 Chainz is clearing the air after a heated conversation with Keith Lee sparked criticism online. The rapper has now apologized for his remarks about celebrity treatment, admitting he could have handled the discussion differently.
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2 Chainz addressed the controversy in a post on X, revealing that he and Lee had spoken privately since their appearance on Kirk Franklin’s Den of Kings podcast.

“I got a chance to speak to Keith after the podcast, and it was all love,” he wrote. “I know my words offended some people and I apologize for that.”
The controversy started during the podcast conversation, when 2 Chainz questioned Lee about a supposed negative review of Esco Restaurant & Tapas, the Atlanta restaurant he co-owns with Mychel “Snoop” Dillard. However, Lee had never visited or reviewed the establishment.
The misunderstanding eventually turned into a larger conversation about whether celebrities should receive special treatment when dining out and visiting businesses.
Lee explained that his food reviews are about more than what is on the plate. He wants to show people the kind of experience they can expect when they walk into a restaurant, regardless of their popularity or public profile.
To make his point, Lee recalled sending his mother-in-law to several Atlanta restaurants, where she reportedly struggled to get proper service. He said the treatment changed once he showed up himself.
“I don’t ever want to put nobody in a situation that they get a different experience only because they not Keith Lee,” he explained.

That position stood in contrast to 2 Chainz’s argument that celebrities sometimes receive additional perks because of the work and sacrifices that come with their careers.
The rapper pointed to his own experiences as an entertainer, including skipping airport lines, as examples of privileges he believes he has earned.
“I’m an entertainer, and obviously we get perks that other people don’t get,” he said. “I don’t stand in line at the airport. I don’t do none of that because I done work my a— off to do this.”

Clips from the exchange quickly circulated online, with many viewers siding with Lee. Some criticized 2 Chainz for appearing entitled, while others questioned why he confronted the food critic over a review that never happened.
In his apology, the rapper also tried to clarify what he intended to communicate during the conversation.

“What I said and what I meant were two different things,” he wrote. “I could’ve done a better job getting my point across.”
Although the discussion created an uncomfortable moment, 2 Chainz’s apology and confirmation that he spoke with Lee suggest the two have since addressed the disagreement privately.
