50 Cent is backing Drake in the Canadian rapper’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), stating that he believes the allegations Drake made in his legal action are entirely true. Appearing on Andrew Schulz’s “Flagrant” podcast on December 16, the New York rap legend shared his thoughts on the case, saying, “Everything he said they did in that lawsuit, they did it.”

Drawing from his own experience with G-Unit and Interscope Records, a subsidiary of UMG, 50 Cent explained how the music business often operates in a cutthroat, impersonal way. He compared Drake’s lawsuit to his past struggles with Interscope, reflecting on how the company handled G-Unit’s marketing, including the infamous “G-Unot” campaign spearheaded by The Game. After being dropped from G-Unit in the 2000s, The Game led a boycott of the label, with rumors that 50 Cent and Jimmy Iovine paid him $1 million to stop using the phrase “G-Unot” after he trademarked it.

“They’re looking at it like a business completely, not personalizing each individual. They’re just selling music,” 50 Cent said during the interview. “They don’t care about [personal relationships]. You’ll [take it] personally because you feel like you made them so much money. They’ll go, ‘No, it’s not personal at all.’”
In November, Drake filed two petitions against UMG. The first accused the company of using bots, payola, and other illegal tactics to artificially inflate the streams of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” The second petition claimed UMG distributed the track even though it falsely accused Drake of being a pedophile.
50 Cent also weighed in on his strong support for Drake despite Lamar’s ties to his circle through Dr. Dre. He explained that Drake’s behavior reminded him of his own experiences in the music industry. “You see how [Drake is] lashing at everybody? That doesn’t feel like 50 Cent? That’s what that experience [comes from],” he said.

The rap mogul also speculated that one of the reasons for Drake’s legal action might be to prevent Lamar from performing “Not Like Us” at the 2025 Super Bowl. He suggested that if Drake’s intentions are as he believes, it’s to avoid further damage to his reputation: “If it’s for what I think it’s for, then I understand it. [Drake is trying] to prevent the song from being played at the Super Bowl because it would do further damage.”
